GTV First Loop: Sawtooths

Jeff here. Our next area of possible exploration--the Sawtooths. We didn't entirely know what we'd find there, but the road had dots, so we headed for Stanley, Idaho.

Whoa. Stanley Lake!

After some discussion about the many possible areas for exploration, we settled on Redfish Lake.

I'm on a boat!

Say, all these beautiful mountains give me an idea...Perhaps we should backpack for a night or two?

Crazy as a loon!

A little post-motor boat pre-backpack stand up paddling (that tiny speck on the right is Mel)...

And a lovely camp at Sockeye campground...

The next morning, a shuttle boat across the lake gave us a head start on our trek into the Sawtooths. Flynn was not a fan.

On the hike to Alpine Lake

And then, the glorious Alpine Lake, in better weather...

Goodnight...

And then, the next morning...

Beautiful, but cold and a little wet. Hike out to catch the shuttle. dinner at the lodge, and another night at Sockeye campground.
